Preah Vihear is an incredible site to visit. The construction of this ancient temple and the wonderful views of the surrounding area make this a good choice for the discerning traveler looking for a unique experience.

Your first stop on the journey is the jungle temple, Beng Mealea. Most of the temple’s history remains unknown, but it can be dated by its architectural style, similar to that of the Angkor Wat era. Scholars believe it was built in the 12th century. Today, much of the temple is engulfed by the natural forest surrounding the area making it a great place to explore as you discover this ancient treasure.

As the journey continues, explore Koh Ker, a former Khmer capital for a short time dating back to 928-944 AD. Visit the mystic pyramid temple and the remote surrounding area. A tranquil place to explore some great sites away from it all.

The adventure continues to the northern border with Thailand and the stunning Preah Vihear temple. Take in the incredible views. The site is built atop a 525-meter cliff in the Dangrek Mountains. The complex is vast, running more than 800 meters with many terraces along the way to the peak. The temples was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008.

In 1962, after a lengthy dispute with Thailand over ownership of the temple, the International Court of Justice ruled that the temple is in Cambodia. However, the dispute continued between the two countries until recently.
